We have started the redesign of the landscaping at Daisy’s Place Restaurant on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and I would like to thank the owner, Sue Joseph, for the opportunity to work with her to waterscape the venue. Sue’s vision has unfolded in the reopening of the venue that once was known as the Rustic Cabin which many a traveller would remember while driving from Brisbane on the north end of Steve Erwin Way.

The installation is a very creative project that includes two large pondless creek/ waterfall systems with multiple streams and cascades. We will also be installing subtle lighting in and around the waterscape so that it can be fully enjoyed by evening diners.

We are 7 days into the construction and the streams are nearly completed with the majority of the 37 ton of basalt boulders in place. This is a 14 days project including installation of plants and landscaping the area. A full project description and progress slide show will follow soon.. stay tuned.

If your in the Sunshine Coast area please drop in for a visit and why not stay and enjoy a superb lunch at this long awaited bench mark for fine dining on the Coast.

A belated welcome to 2012.

I think we all can feel something special is in store for us this year, its a year of great change and possibility.

On a practical level here at Waterscapes we are pleased to say that we will have a new range of products available in early February. For those following our site you will find that we are updating and adding new pond products and, as time permits there will be a lot more information and links to help bring Australia up to speed in the watergardening category. Keep your eye on the shop and feel free to ask us for more details if you need them or suggestions for the site. We love feedback.

Its taken time for quality products that make it easier and better to build and maintain ponds to become readily available in Australia and any one doing a quick web search as to whats going on overseas will see there has been many advances that have until now not been accessible to us here. The hold up has been predominately industry related but also in the expectation of the consumer. Any one who has headed off to the local hardware or pond supply shop will know of the trial and error it has taken to get your pond right, if in fact you have. Its sometimes like recreating the wheel.

We believe that there is a place for all the pond equipment and building styles out there but we also believe that a pond should be more than hole in the ground with a pump thrown in it and water squirting over a rock. There is much talk about water quality and little about ecology. Lets all go a bit deeper but keep it fun.

So welcome to the world of Water Gardening and may 2012 be all you wish it to be.

Thanks and hello to all who came to see us at our display, it was great to talk with so many people with a passion for ponds. The expo was a great success and our display really just showed what is possible to achieve. With a lot of effort plus 5 ton of rock we created a 4 meter x 3.5 meter pond with two waterfalls that was recognised with the silver trophy.

We are redesigning our web site and online store to make it more informative for those wanting to have a pond installed, and easier to access the equipment for the DIY customer so keep an eye out for the new look in the coming month.

We will also have available a range of new equipment that has not been see in Australia that makes it even easier to create beautiful watergardens.
